Blake's Beef

I am new to this whole bloggin' scene. The other day Danielle told me that she loved to go to the dentist. Who loves to go to the dentist... not ME! Why does a dentist office have to smell like rubber gloves and cinnamon? Trust me, those two smells were not made to go together. (I just go the chills typing that). I think it takes a real twisted person to want to torture people to where they clench there legs in a knott to keep from screaming. If you scream it hurts worse. I can't believe that the world will let things like that happen, and yet we get all upset when a terrorist is tortured. I have to go through it once every 6 months for the rest of my life... that is if I don't have the luxury of a cavity or root canal. Then I get to go an extra couple times so I can pay them even more money to hurt me...

Sorry that was a big tangent. My whole reason for writing this post was to tell you that our comments are not up to where they use to be. Did Caleb stop being as cute as he was or have we just bored you all with our married life? We are fun! We rock the party!

Caleb Rolled Over!

Caleb's eyes are beginning to look hazel, and guess who the only person in our family is who has hazel eyes.... my dad!!! He is a miniature version of his Grandpa. :)

When Caleb was 4 weeks old, he rolled over for the first time from belly to back. He did it several times in a row. But, it was an accident and we put him on his elbows to start out. But today, we layed him flat on his belly and there he went! Yay!

Caleb's 2 Month Checkup

Caleb had his 2 Month appointment today, which was pretty great except for the horrible shots... You can see in the pics below his little bandaids on his thighs. He got 3 shots. I couldnt watch, I just held his paci in his mouth, kissed his head, whispered in his ear, and cried while he screamed and cried. Man, I could hear the pain in his voice! I am grateful to know what his painful cry sounds like, though, so I can know for the future. It was a hard experience but Caleb did sooo great!

Caleb's Growth
Height: 24 1/4 inches - 90th percentile!
Weight: 12 lbs. 4 1/2 ounces - just under 75th percentile!
Caleb started playing with toys on St. Patrick's day! He hugs things and licks them and sucks on them. He loves stuffed animals.Below, here is Caleb's aunt Nitti. I loved being able to hang with my best friend Nitti in Utah. She and I went to the Malt Shoppe and the Cougarette's concert (AMAZING!!!!) and then watched Sydney White until late at night! It was a great time to spend together. I miss my Nitti.
Chelsey, my 16 year old niece, took me to get Gel Toes!!! They are acrylic, smoothe-feeling, but look like a party on your feet! So fun!
Speaking of feet, I love the shoes my bro Terry got me for Christmas (mine are the pink ones, then Cassie's are the hearts, and Terry's are the yellow).
Here we all are on St. Patty's day. We all wore green, even Cozmo had a green bow on. It was a fun day!
Okay so Sammy, the little boy next door, gave Caleb a stuffed animal - he keeps wanting to give him more too! - and it turned out to be a huge spiderman stuffed toy! So... we had a little fun with it... poor Cozzy...

Happy 2 Months, Caleb!

Here is Caleb taking a (modest) bath today. (Blake wants me to point out that we covered him up so that his picture is appropriate for the internet.) He is now 2 Months old, as of March 10th! He is so awesome. As you can see, he is enjoying baths much more than he used to! I think he cant wait to be able to play with toys in the bath.

Odd weather we have had, yes. Here you can see a week ago we got the biggest "snow storm" Tennessee has seen all year. Nearly 4 inches! ha ha But it sure was beautiful. We watched it come down the night before and then when Blake got up in the morning he took these pictures.

This cute little bird was being sheltered from the snow by the wheel of our jeep. He's so cute! Blake took this pic.

Here is me, Caleb, and Cozmo (no... our next baby's name will probably not start with a "C") by the fire on our snowy night. It was as if we were living the Christmas season over again this year!

And here are the 3 of us, props to Blake on this awesome picture (ironically a week after our snowy wintery night ), taking a stroll in the gorgeous 70 degree weather that we have had this week! Caleb loves his Ironman stroller (bought for him by his 5-time Ironman Grandpa!) because he can see the world so well. Cozmo was exhausted after our 45 minute PUG BOOTCAMP! Blake and I rollerbladed, while Caleb hung out in the stroller, and Cozmo ran his tiny little legs off! It was so fun.

Sweet Miracle Moment

I have been thinking a lot about my friend/sister Whitney Nelson who passed away a year ago this month. I really miss her.
So, tonight I was talking to Caleb. He was just laying down next to me with his pacifier in and chillin, not really in a smiley mood, just a hang-out mood.

I asked Caleb: "How's Whitney? I know you were just with her. Is she happy?"

Right then he turned, looked me in the eyes, and smiled.

I know that was a miracle moment. It reminded me of the scripture in 3 Nephi Chapter 26, verse 14: "And it came to pass that He [Jesus] did teach and minister unto the children... and he did loose their tongues, and they did speak unto their fathers great and marvelous things, even greater than he had revealed unto the people; and he loosed their tongues that they could utter." I seriously felt like looking in Caleb's eyes, there was an understanding there that he cannot yet communicate. Love ya, Whitney.

More Baby Blessing Pics!

Here is Caleb and Caleb. :) Our Caleb is Caleb Manscill's Namesake! Caleb Manscill is an awesome person to be named after. He was Blake's first business partner, when they did detailing in Utah. He has been a close friend of ours for sometime now and we know will always be a great example to our little guy. They are buddies already.
Proud mommy...
This picture just makes me happy. Two lovely ladies, Saramarie and Kelsey. I love them.
Daniel, Blake's cousin, and his wife Krista had their baby just a few short weeks before Caleb was born.
The whole crew. Caleb is a popular dude already! This was some party!
Blake's buddies and their families, Bones, Tim, BK, Glenn, Blake, and Cradam. Special!
Cuuuuuute, this is Brooklynn and Caleb. Brooklynn is the daughter of my BYU Freshman roommate, Bitz (aka Brittany)!
Sweet boy! He is sooo smiley! What a great personality!

Utah for Caleb's Baby Blessing!

Okay, this is pretty much the most amazing picture EVER!

Blake and his baby Caleb, Brady and his baby Alexa!
And the mommies, me and Randi!
Four Generations of Haines Boys, all the first boys born into their family! Caleb is the first grandson and first great grandson to carry the Haines name!
Caleb in his baby blessing outfit. The onesie was Blake's blessing outfit! His blessing went beautifully, Blake did a wonderful job. And he had SO many friends and family come to the party his Grandma Haines threw for him! My 6 Week appointment was an amazing day. I have loved being able to exercise since! Doctor Nims is the most amazing doctor, I am so grateful she was my doctor! I owe so much to her skills as a doc. If anyone here in middle TN needs an OB GYN, just look up Tracy Nims!
Caleb has grown up so much in the last week! We went to Utah and man, his aunts, uncle, grandparents, etc. showed him so much love!! He has shown his personality so much, smiling and laughing over and over! He is a busy boy too, moving and wiggling when he has his awake-socializing time!

Caleb started giggling on Monday, March 3rd, 7 1/2 weeks old! That morning, it seemed like he giggled, then when his aunt Madeline played with him later in the day, it was for sure that he was giggling!

Happy V-Day!

Happy Day-of-Love everyone! This Valentine's Day I realized that it was not much different than any other day with me and Blake. I asked him to help me with something, and he said, "Anything to help you today on Valentine's Day." But I know that he would have willingly helped me any other day as well. I am so grateful for a wonderful husband and an incredible marriage. I know I am so blessed. As little of a gift as it seems, I made cookies for Blake for Valentine's Day. But they were not just any cookies - they were cake cookies! With his favorite sugar thingies on top. But Blake got me the best Valentine's Day gift EVER - "Every Kiss Begins with Kay!" - A white gold ring with two pink saphire hearts in the middle and small diamonds, and a matching necklace. SO PRETTY, I love them both so much. Thank you Blakey, my love!

Having Caleb around all day for Valentine's Day was a different feeling, but we loved it! He is such a sweetheart.
The other day, we went on a walk with Caleb in this little brown outfit and carried him in a front carrier.
He loved watching the scenery around him on the walk and soon fell asleep, and slept for a while afterward! Precious.
Last week was Caleb's 1 Month checkup at the doctor. He weighed in at 10 pounds 15 ounces, 23 inches!!! Big boy! Also, 3 days ago he started smiling! It has been such a joy, and I can't wait to get his smile in a picture! His smile just lights up his entire face, it's incredible. What joy it brings to everyone around him (especially his mommy).

My Brother, A Missionary!

Woah. Yesterday my little brother opened his mission call!!! (I totally guessed it - I knew he'd go somewhere where the people looked totally different from him, probably short and dark haired.) Well, he is going to the Culiacan Mexico, Spanish speaking mission on June 4, 2008! I am way excited for him!!!! I am also so proud of him! I can see a big change in him in the last 24 hours. It's like he has grown up even more just from opening that pretty white envelope. Love ya Terry!!!

Caleb is 1 Month Old!

Today, Caleb is one month old. This picture is him today, with his first pair of shoes ever that his Uncle Terry bought for him! I cannot believe it has been a whole month since he entered this world and made it a better place to be. On the other hand, I do feel like labor/delivery was years ago!!

Caleb is really developing and growing quickly. He has a doctor's appointment this Thursday and we'll know how heavy he is, but I am guessing he's over 10 pounds already! He's quickly outgrowing newborn clothes and growing into the 0-3 Month size. He does, however, have a little teeny bum and just recently outgrew preemie diapers and now must wear the Newborn size, Huggies preferably.

He now follows people with his eyes, especially me! I love it! Also, he is beginning to have a predictable night time sleeping schedule. This week was beautiful. He always has his long period of sleeping at night, but usually it's about 3 1/2 to 4 hours long. Well, Tuesday night he slept from 2 to 7 a.m., five hours! Woo! Wednesday night from 12:30 to 8:30 a.m. Eight hours, wow! We felt great that day! Thursday night was another 5 hour night and Friday night was a 6 hour night! Last night wasn't quite as good but I dont even mind, we had such a great week with good sleep!

It is amazing how much our love grows for Caleb every day. He is such a special person and we know that Heavenly Father loves him so much. Every new thing he does is exciting, and we are loving watching his personality come out!

Four Generations on my mom's side! Caleb, Me, my Mom, and her parents.
Four generations on my dad's side! Caleb, me, my dad, and his mother.
My dad calls this the "Three Monkeys in a Row" picture. He gave Caleb the monkey in his lap, then Caleb, then the monkey to the back right of Caleb!
Today was Caleb's first experience at church! Yay! He was of course extremely popular. He did pretty well, but had a hard time getting to sleep. By the time Relief Society rolled around, the mission president's wife was holding the little guy and she had to say the opening prayer. Caleb decided to participate... he screamed a bit, the Relief Society found it hilarious! So, I took him into the mother's lounge where it's nice and quite and he almost immediately fell asleep. Good thing too because he was pretty much awake at that point since 4:30 a.m.! Everyone of course thought Caleb looks so much like his granddaddy. Here they are making the same face. My dad says that Caleb totally copied him.

Great Mommy Moment
The other day I was home alone with Caleb and Cozmo. Well, I laid Caleb down for a sec to change his diaper and then he looked so happy there, so I let him be for a bit. Next thing I know, he has vomited all over himself. (He has acid reflux and I must not have kept him upright long enough after he ate.) I felt so bad for him! I picked him up and got the vomit all over me (I didnt even care, I just wanted Caleb to be warm). Then, I had to keep Cozmo from eating it or stepping in it, so I pinned him in the kitchen. I got Caleb's bath ready and a new outfit. Then, I bathed him all by myself (huge accomplishment!) and got him all cleaned up. He was a great sport and did not cry at all. He just looked at me like, "Good job mom. Way to keep it together." Then, I cleaned up the vomit, took care of Cozmo, threw all the vomited-on stuff in the washer, and cleaned up the bath. It was hard but fun to see that I am getting a hang of things. Being a mom rocks!
