Loving Mommyhood

Check out the HUGE puddle of water below him. I mean like the huge lake of water below him. He was playing in the sink. It was fun for him. He is sopping wet here. I loved it. Blake walked in and said, "... who's watching you??"
Here Caleb is with Caesar, the Hissong's dog who we kept for a weekend. He calls him "LIL-LE PUPPY" (little puppy). They bonded. And this picture is gross...

Caleb LOVES when I make anything with a mixer. He shouts out, "Cake! Cake! Cake!" while pushing a chair up to the counter. Then, he usually reaches into the bowl. Cute.
He thought he was pretty funny trying on mommy's shoes. (with only one sock on, even)

This time of motherhood has been REALLY FUN!!!!!!! I wish I knew it was going to be this awesome back when he was just crying and spitting up all over me all the time. Now I know.

Hilarious 20-Month-Old Boy

Every day Caleb amazes us. Today we were teaching him "thank you," which we teach him over and over every day. Finally, I gave him some frosting I was making and he said all by himself, "Tay-too, Mommy." He also loves to repeat to himself over and over, "Tay-too, ya welcome... tay-too, ya welcome..." Last night we had all the young men but 1 over for a sleepover. Here are some pics of Caleb fitting in with some of the action. By the morning, he remembered all of their names and kept saying, "Tyler! Andrew! Blithe!" or anyone's name who he could remember, and getting them to pay attention to them. What a memory. Maybe he has Blake's memory... it's not mine! :)

4 Months along and 5 Months along... where did the time go???

I forgot to post my 4 month belly picture! I remember thinking I looked big... now I cackle at the thought...
And I dont have a 5 months along picture, so I consider this my 5 1/2 months along picture (me at 25 1/2 weeks)...
Yes I know, I grow a LOT in the 5th month. It happened to me last time, too! And boy is it not fun to step on that scale! EEEK! :) It's temporary... it's temporary... it's temporary...

Day School

Caleb has started his first year of Day School. He goes twice a week. They do crafts, reading, playing, eating, and napping. Remarkably, all three days he has been so far he has taken a nap! *Shocked mother.* However... it has messed with his nap at home. I think he's like his mommy and likes napping when other people are napping too. Unfortunately, he is shunning his nap at home every day. Then, by 6 pm he's exhausted and ready for bed and sleeps a solid 12 hours at night, which is unusually long for him. He is only 20 months old.

My plan? First I will bring him to the doctor. Make sure he's feeling well. Call the Day School and ask what time he goes down and what the specific routine is. Plan A) I will put him down for his nap much earlier than I have been. I noticed him yawning today at 10 am. If he does it again tomorrow, I will try to put him to sleep then. Plan B) If that does not work, then for 3 days in a row, I will lay him down at a regular nap time. I will do his regular bedtime routine with him - diaper change, sound machine, read books, drink a sip of water, lay down in crib, rub his back, walk out and close the door. If he protests, I will return 45 minutes later to retrieve him. Plan C) If that is not effective after 3 days, then I'll resort to rocking with him during his entire nap for a full week, and hope that I can transfer him back to putting himself to sleep for his nap, after reestablishing the fact that there will be a nap.

Caleb's whole life, he has been dedicated to talking me and Blake into cuddling and rocking him to sleep. Now that he has Day School, he's digressed back to this. If none of those plans work, buh-bye to Day School. That's my final plan. Back to normal routine. We'll try again next year.

I pray one of the 3 plans will work.

More California

We had a fabulous time with my best friend Nitti and her hubs, Chris. One of the first things we got to enjoy was the San Diego Zoo. It was honestly... no big whoop. But we had a good time!

This was my favorite animal in the whole zoo. I called it the asphalt/cement swimming anteater. I can't honestly remember what it is really called! But I could have stared at it all day.
Nitti and I have been planning this trip for ages. We miss each other a lot, so it was really nice to actually get to spend time together for 8 days! Here, Nitti put her clip-in extensions in my hair. Wicked awesome.
Disneyland was of course the highlight of the trip. We spent two blissful days there. Two days of Disneyland totalling 25 hours at the park... plus lots of fun elsewhere in California... Caleb was exhausted sometimes! But he was a great sport.
... except for the time when we were trying to eat dinner and instead of sitting or even standing and eating, Caleb decided to tear his shoes off, throw them, climb out of his chair, and walk around barefoot on the nasty floor. Then, he threw a fit and eventually ended up sitting on the nasty floor picking his feet...
Aside from that, the trip was a total success and worth every minute, penny, and happy moment spent!

California! California! Here we CO-OME!

We had a fabulous time in California with our friends Nitti and Chris. Nitti and I are bff's and it was a much needed time together. We are also both pregnant! Hooray!

Please enjoy this HILARIOUS video. Caleb was getting more and more sure of the sand and water. In this video he runs toward the ocean, then sees a big wave, so stops and turns to run back. Then he gets the courage to turn and face the wave.

One of our favorite places we visited was beautiful Newport Beach. What a charming city and GORGEOUS beach! Caleb loved it, although he was a little unsure of the powerful waves and FREEZING water. I mean the water was so cold that your toes went numb and it turned your skin red. But it was great for the hot weather! After 4 and a half hours at the ocean, Caleb zonked out on my lap, wrapped in a towel and nothing else! He snoozed for an hour and a half and we had to wake him up. So cute!

Cozmo has lost weight!!!

Wow. Our little Cozmo has lost some WEIGHT. Now that he has a house with windows low to the floor, and a yard, and a back porch, he gets lots of barking and sprinting time. We also rarely let him eat people food, if we can help it. Blake has been the enforcer in helping Cozmo get fit.

Here he is 1 year ago...
And here he is TODAY! Yay skinny!
